The castle, built on behalf of the feudal lords Spinola to defend the town, seems to date back to 936. From the mid-eighteenth century, the castle was abandoned by the feudal lords.
The central part of the structure has a raised entrance, which can be reached through a mobile passage or through a retractable staircase so as to remain completely isolated. Over the centuries, the structure and the walls have undergone numerous changes and the recent restoration works have allowed it to be used without altering its monumental peculiarities.
The architectonic complex underwent a recovery action: the works, started in 1992, have allowed to use the reconverted spaces for events, exhibitions and events, which involve the village especially in the summer season.
