The parish church of Saint Mary of the Assumption, located in the village of Allegrezze, is in the main square of the village and dates back to the thirteenth century. On the wall of the baptismal font, there is a fresco depicting the Baptism of Jesus, which dates back to the sixteenth century. It was established as parish church in the tenth century. The earliest attested documents date back to the medieval period, when a paper manufacturer of the monastery of Saint Peter, in Pavia, ascertained the presence of a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The interior of the building has slate columns, typical dark Ligurian stone, also called “black stone”.
