Already noble building of the Del Carretto family, it was built around the 12th Century and restored in 1580. Praiseworthy are the rooms of the building decorated with numerous armour, shields and alabards. Here, in 1796 Napoleon Bonaparte received the flags of the villages of the Bormida valley conquered by the Piedmont army after the conquest of Cosseria’s castle in the same battle. Inside the council room, there is the altar where on 17 August 1809 Pope Pius VII, a prisoner of Bonaparte, celebrated the Holy Mass. The adjacent tower was raised during the nineteenth Century. The palace has been owned by the Municipality of Millesimo since the sale of the building in 1882 by the Del Carretto family itself.
