Gate and bridge of Gaietta in Millesimo

The Gaietta bridge, also called the old bridge, and Millesimo icon, is mentioned in the foundation document of the village dated November 9, 1206, although the structure could date back up to the twelfth Century. The guard tower with Ghibelline merlons was the access gate to Millesimo on the west side of the hamlet. One of the two arcades of the old bridge collapsed in 1744, along with a small tower, following a flood of the Bormida in Millesimo. Later, in 1878 it was replaced by a bridge, later replaced with a suspended catwalk still present today.
