Church of Saint George in Dolceacqua

Built in the historic centre, the church of Saint George was built in 1100 and has a Romanesque structure, recognizable by the façade and the lower part of the bell tower, later transformed during the Gothic and Baroque periods. The crypt, already in ancient times, became the family tomb of the marquisate. Inside the tombs of Stefano Doria of 1580 and of Giulio Doria of 1608 are still visible today, with the depiction of vintage armour engraved on the marble slabs. The original wooden ceiling, of rare beauty, preserves thanks to the restoration the beams of 1400.
