Alpini’s Trail in Molini di Triora

Between the two world wars, the Alpini, Italian alpine trooper, dug a path, suspended in the air, carved into the fragile rocks of Pietravecchia and Toraggio, on the border between Italy and France, along those we call the “Little Ligurian Dolomites”.
First of all, to reach the starting point of the trail, you get to Molini di Triora, then take the fork to Carmo Langan and then continue to Colle Melosa, where there arethe Allavena Refuge and the Colle Melosa Diner. There you leave the car and start the actual excursion.
We start the trail that leads to the Grai Refuge. Further on, we encounter Fontana Italo and from there the trail called “Sentiero degli Alpini” (Alpini’s Trail) starts. It was dug into the slopes of Mount Pietravecchia. A breathtaking view helps you not to concentrate on the overhang around the trail, very narrow, dug into the mountain. Then you get to Gola dell’Incisa, and you continue along the path on the slopes of Toraggio.
The route to go back to the starting point is the same!
