Located in the historic centre of Brugnato, it was originally an ancient cemetery basilica, which in the seventh century was refounded by the monks of the Order of Saint Colombano, who erected it to the rank of Abbey. The current building dates back to a period between the eleventh and twelfth centuries, when the village of Brugnato was elected as a diocese and a branch of the archdiocese of Genoa. The building has an eighteenth-century façade, while restorations made in the fifties have highlighted the original structure of the apse. Also the interior has been partially restored to its initial sobriety. It has two naves divided by pillars with a colonnade and capitals. Belonging to the same material there are some little heads walled along the walls, probably coming from the previous church of the early Middle Ages.
